How do you feel when your routine suddenly gets disrupted? Or when you are forced to leave your safe haven to join uncertainty?
I find it extremely unsettling. Still, one such discomforting change met me this morning.
6 months ago, I shifted to my new home, it’s near to the sea coast. I’ve spent many afternoons near the enormous sea. It has always been fiery as I expect it to be chaotic, fierce, and supremely dominating.
Its daunting waves take away all my worries as I sit here for hours, asserting my space in its vastness.
Today, however, for a change, I came here for a morning stroll, and to my surprise, the sea changed beyond recognition. There was no sign of hungry waves, all I could see were soothing ripples.
Somehow, the sea had calmed down. I could barely call it a lake.
Suddenly the same place, the same sea, felt so different that I found it hard to call it mine.
What must have happened? Is the sea always so settled in the morning? Or was it exposing its vulnerable side?
I don’t have answers to these questions, but I admit that this changed reality engaged me in a trance. This state emerged from vulnerability resonating with my life.
You and I are never just one person- one mood, in all situations, right?
Most days, my moods swing in a cycle; calm in the morning, chirpy by noon, almost fiery in the afternoon, done by evening, and mysteriously energised by night.
This cycle could be different for you, as no sea waves in the same direction. However, the thing to reminisce about is that there is a cycle that exists, the change persists, and it is intrinsic to us.
The breakdowns, euphoria, dullness, and unexplained energy changes are not to terrify us but to remind our existence within nature. You and I are not only a part of nature, but we also influence it.
Now if we can affect change, why can’t we welcome it wholeheartedly?
Tranquil lake or the raging sea, there is beauty in both.
Perhaps in future, when confronted by such discomfort, I will try to embrace its trance.
Hoping you will also accept the cyclic changes, I wish the waves in your direction.
