When You Struggle with 1 True Calling

Read time: 5-minute slow-cook

Back in the days when I was still learning my ABCs and 123s, there came the most crucial event of the time- the fancy dress competition.

Crucial- because my teacher had instructed the class to dress up as ‘who we wanted to be when we grew up.’

Choosing a career path as a 5-year-old might seem daunting for some, but not for me.

Ever since I was a toddler, my grandma tucked me in with magical bedtime stories. I had chosen my career path long back in those stories.

It was a no-brainer.

I dressed as a fairy.

As I performed at the event, I received cheers from everyone, including my parents and teachers. It was enough social proof that I made the right choice.

As I grew older, I developed an interest in science fiction. I loved reading about mysteries of the universe, stories of alien invasions, and the possibility of other worlds. I realized that becoming an astronaut was the only way I could be a fairy. Because by some crazy logic, both lived around the same place.

Mind you, I was 8 by then.

Then, one fine afternoon while shuffling through TV channels after school, I got hooked on the ‘Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ on Fox History. That’s when my love for crime thrillers and detective stories began. Space secrets were no longer on my mind as I was now obsessed with murder mysteries. It was only natural that I wanted to become a crime detective by then.

Time went by, and Hannah Montana became the talk of the town. I remember singing her songs in the shower and imagining myself on stage. I was firm this time, I was going to be a pop star!

Years kept changing, and so did my interests.

I never really heard one single calling throughout.

I realized a pattern in my life- I would get engrossed in a field, make the best of it, become an expert, earn praises – and then – suddenly lose all interest in it.

What is my calling?

The moment I start feeling bored by the job, my brain hops on to the next interest, and the cycle continues. I have worked as a Front-end Developer, Database Manager, Business Analyst, TV anchor, Copywriter, Kathak Dancer, and Content Strategist(till now).

I thoroughly enjoyed all these fields till I did.

My calling kept changing, and I kept listening.

I have always had multiple interests and have never been able to decide on a singular purpose in life.

If you face the same issue, Congratulations, it’s not an issue.

You are, as popularly known, a Multipotentialite.

There is nothing wrong with having multiple callings. But it sure feels so.

Do you know why?

One of the primary reasons is the misconception that your calling must translate directly into your career. You would be relaxed to know the reality is far more flexible. There are hundreds of examples of engineers, lawyers, doctors,[insert your profession] by week and bakers, dancers, pianists,[whatever you want to be] by weekends and vice-versa.

With the world converging faster than ever, smudging the lines between different professions, multipotentialites are nothing short of a blessing.

It is not wrong But It is not easy as well.

There are countless lost opportunities, the anxiety of leaving the known, and the fear of wandering in uncomfortable unknown paths- time and time again.

However, you get to live, learn, and gain from scratch to the top.

You get broader knowledge due to your multiple interest areas. In the intersection of these knowledge areas, you can find newer-better solutions.

You relive the journey of beginner to expert.

You get to take risks that others fear.

And while doing so, you forget about the limits.

The moment you decide to change your path, start a new journey, listen to your next calling,

You become Limitless.

So, next time you feel overwhelmed by the choices, just remember: one by one, bit by bit, you can have it all.

According to the Buddhist concept by Nichirine Diashonin, there are three thousand realms in a single moment of life. This means Every Moment of your life carries infinite potential and endless possibilities.

So when you take care of this moment, your days and years, your interests and passions will be taken care of.

Take the first step to achieve what you desire at this moment- with your highest potential, and you’ll never be unsatisfied.

Listen to your calling every time it calls on you.

  1. Playing from South America I always struggle to find sites that support my local payment methods but this platform makes it so easy. Deposits go through instantly and the live dealers really bring the Vegas vibe to my living room. A solid choice for serious players. casinopinupchile

  2. This platform has completely changed my mobile gaming routine. The interface is so clean and I never run into crashes during live dealer sessions. Highly recommend for anyone chasing big multipliers. thi828

  3. Switched over from my old site and the difference is night and day. Payouts arrive the same day and the sportsbook odds are genuinely competitive. Definitely giving this one a permanent spot in my rotation. idharta138
